Volunteers needed!

FUN FAIR VOLUNTEERS needed please! The schedule has been browen down into mostly ONE hour shifts. Please help out by grabbing at least one shift…multiple if you are able! 5th Annual Cake Walk

Mark you calendars!

It’s time again for our Annual Westwind Public School Cake Walk. This is one of our children’s favourite fundraisers! The proceeds of this Westwind Parent Council fundraiser support curriculum enhancing activities at our school. Families can get involved by donating decorated cakes and our students will buy tickets in an effort to win these delectable masterpieces. The more cakes donated, the more winners we will have. Over 320 cakes were donated last year! All cakes (homemade or store bought) are appreciated and gratefully accepted! No decorating experience necessary.

HOW IT WORKSThursday morning, teachers will take their classes to the gym where all cakes are on display. The students will have had an opportunity to buy tickets and then use the tickets to bid on the cakes. Once all students have placed their bids, we will blindly draw the winning tickets. Winners will be eligible to win one cake each.

TICKET PRICESTickets cost .25 cents each or 5 for $1.00 (max. $5.00). Please send exact change. If paying by cheque, please make it payable to Westwind Public School Parent Council. A separate cheque will be required for each of your children since tickets are sold in each class. Tickets will be sold to the JK, SK and Grade 1 students on Wednesday afternoon and to the rest of the grades on Thursday morning just prior to the cake walk. We will send a reminder email.

WINNERS – Bus students Grades 2-6 will be allowed to take their winning cakes home on the bus. Parents of winning JK, SK and Grade 1 students will be notified and asked to pick up the cakes before 7:00 p.m. the day of the cake walk. 


DROP OFFS – Donated cakes can be dropped off at the school gym on Wednesday, May 11 from 3 p.m. – 7 p.m. Please ensure the cakes donated do not require refrigeration as they will be left in the gym overnight.

ALLERGIES – Please note that ALL cakes must NOT contain nuts or nut products. More specifically, we will have an allergy sensitive table where egg-free, dairy-free, gluten-free cakes, as well as cakes prepared in a nut-free kitchen, MUST be clearly labelled with all ingredients listed.

CAKE SIZES – Please keep in mind that children will be carrying these creations home, so keeping them to a reasonable size is appreciated. Instead of a large multi-layered cake, please consider making two smaller cakes or instead of a box of 24 cupcakes, you might break it down to three packages of 8 cupcakes. This way more children will have the opportunity to win!

PACKAGING – Please bring your cake in a box or container that you do not want returned to you. Boxes are available in various sizes at The Bulk Barn for a couple of dollars. Dollarama and Michael’s have options as well.

We will need an army of volunteers to make this event a success!

Cake Walk – volunteers needed

Our 5th annual Cake Walk will take place on Thursday May 12, with cake drop-offs happening the afternoon and evening before on Wednesday, May 11. More details will soon follow. In the meantime, please sign up to volunteer for the many tasks needed to pull off this event. Spots will fill up quickly as they do every year, so please sign up soon!

Westwind McDonald’s Fundraiser Night

Tuesday, April 5, 4:00 – 8:00 p.m.

Next Tuesday evening, your McDonald’s meal will help us raise funds for school yard improvements at Westwind! Our event will take place at the Stittsville Main St. McDonald’s location only.

When placing your order, hand in the coupon (no digital copies accepted) and 20% of your purchase will be returned to the school! You may use the coupon at the drive-thru, at the cash or at the new kiosks where helpers will be stationed to collect them.
